PSV Eindhoven coach Philip Cocu is still struggling to comprehend why his side failed to grab Ghana left back Lumor Agbenyenu on transfer deadline day.
The former Dutch international has been mooning over the loss insisting he has eyed the player as a long term solution to his left back problems and losing him is heartbreaking.
Reports indicate that the 21-year-old had agreed verbally with the Dutch giants and was due to fly to the Netherlands to sign a contract on deadline day.
But he made a quick turn and signed for Sporting Lisbon – a move that has sent Cocu wandering.
Officials of PSV were at the Schipol Airport in Amsterdam to welcome Lumor but he never arrived as he swerved them for Lisbon.
“We have been looking for a left defender for a long time, and it is annoying that things went wrong at the last minute, Cocu told FOX Sports (via NOS).
“We could and should have done this better,” Cocu fumed in relations to the collapsed Lumor deal.
Lumor played 21 games and provided one assist for Portimonense in the ongoing season before his move to Sporting.
The Sporting Lisbon new signing has been a revelation for Ghana following a long term injury suffered by Baba Rahman during the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.
Lumor has been phenomenal and a key component of Coach Kwasi Appiah side.
