The Chiefs and people of Kwahu Abene in the East Kwahu area of the Eastern Region on Thursday May 4, 2017 installed Professor Agyeman Badu Akosa as the Chief of the town.
Prof Akosa who is a former Director General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), was installed with the stool name, Daasebre Mampong Adjei II.
Prof Akosa is widely known to be from Asante Mampong in the Ashanti region.
The Abene seat, is said to be from the royal clan of Asante Mampong, and as custom demands, people from the royal family in both sides, Asante Mampong and Kwahu Abene could be chosen as chiefs to occupy the seat.
Some youth, said to be Abetefi and opposed to the installation of Prof Akosa as the chief of Abene attempted to disrupt the installation ceremony.
They block the road leading to the town at the outskirts on the day of the installation but the police moved in to dismantle the road block.
The installation ceremony moved on smoothly.
Daasebre Mampong Adjei II, in his maiden address, thanked God and Abusuapayin Kwabena Adjei Sika and Elders of Abene for giving him the nod to climb to the top.
He expressed the hope the conflict surrounding his installation would come to an end to pave way for the development of the town as well as Kwahuman.
He urged them to unite and support his leadership so as to be able to unearth the potentials and talents in the area.
Abene, a prominent town in the Kwahu area has one primary school and Prof Akosa said he would institute a senior High School in the area, since Kwahuman has more scholars and professionals than traders and businessmen.
