Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) has expressed gratitude to the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on the appointment of the President of the Association, Mrs. Gina Blay, as Ghana’s Ambassador to Germany.
In a statement signed and issued by its acting President, Mr. Kenteman Nii Laryea Sowah, in Accra yesterday, it said: “PRINPAG takes this opportunity to thank the government of the New Patriotic Party for recognising the role of the private print media owners in Ghana, especially the immense contribution of Mrs. Gina Blay in media freedom and democratic governance.”
Earlier, the national executives of the association appointed a 3-member team with the mandate to run the day-to-day administration of PRINPAG; embark on a re-organisation exercise and also organise the next general election to elect substantive officers to run the affairs of the association before the end of the year.
The 3-member team comprises Kenteman Nii Laryea Sowah, Acting President; Elorm Desewu, General Secretary, and Douglas Ligas as the Treasurer.
Meanwhile, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of PRINPAG has unanimously nominated Elorm Desewu of the “Economy Times” to represent the association on the National Media Commission in accordance with the requirements of the 1992 Fourth Republican Constitution.
Elorm Desewu replaces Mrs. Blay, who was the immediate past President of PRINPAG. Part of Mr. Desewu’s mandate, the statement said, will be to represent PRINPAG on the National Media Commission and also round -up the remaining term of Mrs. Blay.
Similarly, the NEC has also nominated Mrs. Edith Dankwa of the Business & Financial Times to represent PRINPAG on the Board of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) alongside Kenteman Nii-Laryea Sowah who shall continue to serve as a member of the Committee of Director of the global umbrella body.
The WAN-IFRA Board Membership of Edith Dankwa has since been communicated to the headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany.
