Assembly Members in the Ajumako-Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region have voted to reject Rev. Ransford Kwesi Nyarkoh as their District Chief Executive.
A total number of 66 persons voted to take a decision on the nominee on Monday in which 35 voted Yes and 31 voted No, Onua FM’s Central regional correspondent Kwame Kakarba.
Per the local government law, he is required to get two thirds of the total votes cast to be confirmed as the District Chief Executive of the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District. Central Regional Minister, Mr. Kwamina Duncan, who was at the event expressed disappointment and urged the Assembly Members to come to a consensus to approve the nominee to ensure development in the district.
Meanwhile, Evans Kofi Abban polled 60 out 66 votes to become Presiding Member(PM) for the Assembly.
So far 18 districts out of 20 have confirmed nominees for metropolitan, municipal and district chief executive remaining Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese and Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam districts.
