Seven suspected armed robbers have been rounded up by the Central regional police command in its latest fight against crime.
The exercise was part of the “Operation Hit Hard” launched by regional command on 2nd September 2017 to identify hiding places of notorious criminals disturbing residents of the region.
The Regional Police Commander, COP Rev Nenyi Ampah Benin told the media the suspects were arrested in Kasoa, Winneba and Cape Coast.
Items retrieved from them included three taxi cabs, three pregnant goats, laptops, phones, guns, and some amount of money.
COP Rev. Nenyi Ampah Benin said the police will periodically swoop on criminals at their hideouts.
“Under my watch, I and my men will ensure that the region remains peaceful and uncomfortable for criminals to operate”.
Criminals should leave this region because this place is not a safe haven for them, he warned.
He appealed to the public to help the police with information to rid the region of criminals.
The suspects would be arraigned soon.
