The Police in Wa in the Upper West Region have arrested two people in possession of three foreign made pistols with six ammunition.
A tip off by a Police informant led to the arrest of the two –Julius Amoah and Sulemana Adams –Friday morning from their respective homes, TV3’s Yakubu Abdul-Gafur reported
Deputy Upper West Regional Police Commander Edmond Oduro Kwarteng told TV3 Tuesday that at about 10:30am, they got intelligence that someone was offering a pistol for sale at Wa based on which a surveillance was mounted.
He said they followed on the intelligence and at about 10:40am, they located Julius in his room. They arrested him and a search conducted in his room leading to the discovery of one of the pistols.
“A search conducted in his room revealed a foreign pistol and unregistered motorbike. He mentioned one Sulemana Adams at Babili near Lawra as the owner.
The Commander noted Julius led the Police to the house of Sulemana and was also arrested.
When the room was searched, the other foreign pistols were discovered, the Commander said, adding, “He claimed ownership as well as the one found on Julius”.
Both suspects, the commander said, have been detained tighter with the pistols and the ammunition for further investigations into the matter.
