Police in the Central Region have intercepted 21 children who were allegedly being trafficked from Ekumfi to Accra.
The children are between the ages of two and 17, the Police said, adding they are made up of 12 girls and 9 boys.
A 26-year-old man who was driving the vehicle in which the children were being transported has been arrested to assist in police investigations.
Anti-Human Trafficking investigators are expected to begin looking into the matter from today, April 16 at the Regional Police headquarters in Cape Coast.
The Regional Police Highway Patrol team intercepted the Hyndai Grace vehicle with the registration GW 6076-17 on April 15 at about 4:30pm Sunday at Gomoa Dunkwa en route to Accra.
The children were sent to a shelter in the region to spend the night and they are expected to assist in investigations at the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Police in Cape Coast.
