The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Circuit Court presided over by Mary Senkyire has adjourned the case involving the 13 members of Delta Force to September 5, 2017.
The prosecutor ACP Okyere Darko told the court they are done with investigations into the case and have sent the docket to the Attorney General for advice.
He therefore prayed the court to adjourn the case to September 5 to give the AG enough time to study the docket and advise them accordingly.
The court presided over by Mrs Mary Nsenkyire consequently granted the application.
The 13 were arrested after they stormed the office of the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator and allegedly assaulted him in the process.
He was prevented from performing his duties as he was yanked from his office by some members of vigilante group, Delta Force, on Friday March 24.
They were arrested but managed to escape when they first appeared at a Kumasi Circuit Court with the assistance of some members of the vigilante group who sparked confusion at the court. They later surrounded to the police when impressed upon by some leaders of the New Patriotic Party, a party they claimed to be working for.
The 13 accused persons have been charged with conspiracy to assault, assaulting a public officer, and causing unlawful damage.
Lawyer for the accused persons, Matthew Appiah told TV3 the status quo where the police arrest and charge suspect before investigations is not proper.
“It doesn’t speak well…it has become part of our process but it is not the best,” he remarked.
