The Mobile Telecommunication Network (MTN) donated assorted library books and other teaching and learning materials to the Reverend Pinako Junior High School to augment teaching and learning in the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis.
The management of MTN a leading communication and telecommunication service provider also undertook some painting exercise of some of the classroom blocks as part of activities marking this year’s “Yellow Care” celebration of the Telecom giant.
Mr. Simon Amoh, Western and Central Manager, said the company has noted with concern the need for inclusive education and make quality education accessible even to the remotest part of society.
He said for the past ten years, the MTN Foundation had chosen to work around education, health and economic empowerment as a means to invest back to the communities in which the company did business.
Mr. Wisdom Boamah, Headmaster of the School, whilst expressing gratitude to the company, called on stakeholders to commit more resources to education delivery to salvage the downward trend of education particularly in the Metropolis.
He said the School, which was established some 60 years ago now lagged behind in terms of infrastructure adding, “Our roof badly leaks with most of the beams giving off…in the case of any heavy storm, am afraid the school roof will be a big casualty”.
