Earlier the prosecution, Police Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu told the court that, the complainant is a Medicine Counter Assistant who works at a Pharmacy shop at Asofan, a suburb of Accra, whereas the convict is a painter residing at Kanda.
He said on June 16, 2016, at about 20:00 hours, Faustina was in the Pharmacy shop delivering her normal duties when the two accused persons, one at large, came on a motor bike and parked in front of the shop.
He said Abdul Rahman, who was the pillion rider got down and entered the shop, under the pretext of buying a drug.
Whiles Faustina was about to bring out the medicine as requested, he quickly pulled out a knife and rushed on Faustina behind the counter, threatened to stab her if she dares make a sound and forced her to the chamber of the shop.
Police Chief Inspector Adu said Abdul Rahman later took all the daily sales from a rubber container where Faustina usually keeps her sales, together with her wallet and a mobile phone.
He said after the robbery they headed towards their motor bike.
The complainant, who at that moment was restless, followed up and shouted for help and in the midst of that, a young man by name Richmond Yeboah, who heard the scream, chased the robbers and kicked Abdul Rahman off the motor bike with his leg.
Richmond in an attempt to hold the convict was stabbed at the right side of the lower abdomen. The motor rider, sensing danger, sped off the scene.
According to Police Chief Inspector Adu, the young men who were at the scene assisted and the convict was over-powered and handed over to the Police for investigation.
