Daily Guide Attacked -It appears Otumfuo’s loyalists are enraged by the manner in which the Monarch has been ‘disrespected’ by the media.
A group has attacked the offices of the Daily Guide newspaper in the region, claiming the paper has tarnished the image of the leader of the Ashanti Kingdom, The Asentehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The aggrieved team calling itself ‘Kumasi Youth Association’ made the move in reaction to a story carried in the paper about the alleged money laundering case in the UK involving the Asante Monarch, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and a fired bank official.
The group attacked the offices demanding that the media outlet should retract the story. They also threatened to keep the offices sealed pending whenever the management complied.
The story was reported by UK’s The Telegraph and later re-reported by Ghanaian outlets, but for some reason, the youth have decided Daily Guide is at fault and has locked it’s Kumasi offices.
The Telegraph on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, reported that the Asentehene in August 2016, summoned one Mark Frank Arthur, a senior executive staff of the Ghana International Bank (GHIB), to his residence in Henley-on-Thames in the UK and handed him a bag containing £199,9600 as well as $200,000 with consecutive serial numbers.
However, the subsequent deposit of the cash at the Ghana International Bank triggered a money laundering alert in the City of London and Mr Arthur was suspended and then sacked following the incident, after an investigation by outside accountants Grant Thornton.
In the case which is currently ongoing, Mr Arthur said he was not able to follow anti-money laundering rules when he accepted the cash because of the king’s status.
The bank has since cleared the King of any wrongdoing and apologized for their conduct in the entire claim. But the dent on the image of the monarch has left his followers agitated to the extent of seeking a revenge.
