The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has inaugurated a 10-member committee to among others “produce a clear, concise but detailed report to form the basis for the party’s campaign to win 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections”.
The committee will also provide an objective review of the current state of the party.
These were contained in a statement by John Boadu, the Acting General Secretary of the party, on Wednesday, May 10, following the inauguration of the committee.
The committee will be led by Opoku Adusei, a member of the party’s legal team.
The committee is expected to review, as well, the 2016 elections.
“The Opoku Adusei Committee has been given 6 weeks to submit its report to the leadership of the party through the General Secretary,” Mr Boadu, who is the National Organiser of the party, said.
The committee will conduct its analysis from a countrywide tour.
According to the party, the move follows similar ones in 1996, 2008 in the Heyman Committee and in 2012 in the Supreme Court petition.
The NPP insists that “the high ranking of Ghana’s democracy which has become very enviable across the globe is as a result of the NPP’s continuous propagation of best political practices”.
