One student of the Damongo Senior High School in the West Gonja District of the Northern Region has been confirmed dead.
The student whose name is yet to be revealed, according to the District Chief Executive, Saeed Muhazu, died at about 1:00pm Tuesday while on admission at the Damongo Hospital.
Nine other students are currently on admission, the chief executive told 3News.
Authorities at the Hospital have not immediately been able to establish the cause of the death and diagnose those who are currently on admission.
Blood samples have been taken for various laboratory tests to diagnose the disease, officials told 3News
Information gathered so far revealed the nine on admission complained of various medical conditions from fever to bodily weakness, causing school authorities to rush them to Hospital Tuesday at various times.
This comes on the back of the death of four students of the Kumasi Academy (KUMACA) last week in what later emerged as the result of swine flu.
In the KUMACA case, a total of 85 cases were recorded in the outbreak which had claimed four and left 11 students still on admission at four hospitals in the Ashanti region, the regional health directorate has said.
