The victim, who has been identified as only as the Odikro of the town, was hit in the back and has been rushed to the Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital at Kpando.
A bullet allegedly hit him in his house during sporadic shooting by some unknown assailants in the town.
The incident reportedly occurred around midday on Sunday at Alavanyo Agorme in the Hohoe District of the Volta Region.
Eyewitnesses say there was sporadic shooting in the town by the unknown gunmen.
The Odikro, 52 years, was hit when he attempted to run indoors in view of the sporadic shooting.
The Kpando Divisional Police Commander, Superintendent Prosper Ahlidza, who confirmed the incident to TV3, said the police has begun investigations into the matter
He also appealed to the people to assist them with information that would help track down the gunmen.
Renewed clashes between the feuding factions of Alavanyo and Nkonya in May and April this year resulted in killings six people.
Calm was restored after intervention from the state security, Regional Security Council and Volta Regional House of Chiefs.
However, there was fresh shooting in Nkonya Asakyiri on August 14, a day the paramount chief of Alavanya was visiting Nkonya towns in a symbolic peace building gesture.
The Police have since not been able to trace the whereabouts of those who carried out the August 14 shooting, that injured a young lady in the leg.
It is unclear if the Sunday afternoon shooting was in retaliation to the Nkonya Asakyiri incident.
