Odartey Lamptey wins case… Nii Odartey has won his lawsuit in which his wife was seeking to gain 50% of all his wealth. An Accra High Court ruled on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, that Gloria Appiah, his ex-wife committed ‘adultery’ when she conceived three children out of wedlock and subsequently quashed her motion to be awarded half of the property of the former footballer.
The court ruled that lamprey’s ex-wife should vacate the footballer’s plush 7-bedroom apartment in East Legon within 30 days. As Lamptey had proposed earlier, Gloria is to occupy the footballer’s Dome property, a suburb of Accra, as compensation, leaving the player with the clearance to keep the majority of his hard-earned wealth.
These include his schools; Golden Lions Soccer Academy, Glow Lamp International School and other properties. This ruling brings to an end, the bitter divorce battle between the estranged couple which had lingered since 2013.
It was a case questioning the paternity of the three children of the footballer.
After sensing infidelity in his marriage, Odartey had proceeded to do a DNA test after which he realised his three children with Gloria, were not biologically his. The shocking news had led to a divorce case where his wife accused him of being infertile. Gloria’s defence had been that Odartey had asked her to sleep with other men to get pregnant for him due to his impotence.
Claims by Lamptey’s wife had drawn the attention of the public to the case which became a topic of discussion across the country. This was especially as the footballer denied claims of being impotent as well as ordering his wife to sleep around in order to conceive.
With the case finally coming to its closure, Lamptey looks forward to going back to his normal life with his fiancee, Ruweida Yakubu. In an interview after the court ruling, the retired footballer expressed so much relief over the long-anticipated closure. He was also grateful for the better part of his properties which he was allowed to retain.
The grateful father of two thanked God for saving him from taking his own life during the squabbles.
Playing the role of a father to children I thought were mine for 21 years and realising otherwise later, I nearly committed suicide. God gave me renewed energy and courage to withstand these pains and today
Amid the devastating tussle, Odartey Lamptey met actress Ruweida Yakubu with whom he now has two children. Lamptey had his first child with the actress in 2014 during the heat of the paternity case. The former Ghana international was proud to show his baby to the whole world, proving his fertility. The couple welcomed their second child in August 2016, another proof of Lamptey’s fertility.
Ruweida Yakubu was a contestant of TV3’s Ghana Most Beautiful in 2008.
