The Member of Parliament for the Kpone Katamanso Constituency, Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo has been inducted into the Nungua Traditional Council as the regent of Katamanso in the Greater Accra region.
Nii Laryea was installed as regent of Katamanso earlier this year when elders of the Katamanso stool picked him as a caretaker chief to steer the affairs of the area due to the ill health of the current chief Nii Otu Akwetey, who happens to be his father.
Nii Laryea successfully went through all the necessary customary rites to enable him act legally on behalf of the ailing chief.
He has been the Member of Parliament for Kpone Katamanso since 2009
The legislator will lead the people as well as take over the day to day administration of the Katamanso area.
Meanwhile, Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo has announced that he will not seek re-election in 2020.
He declared: “I have decided with my kingsmen I am not going to seek re-election as MP again when I finally bring my tenure of office to MP to an end thus I am seriously grooming one fine gentleman to take over the mantle of leadership as MP in the area when I finally step down in 2020.”
The Nungua Traditional Council is the Paramountcy covering Nungua, Katamanso, Santo and Oyibi divisional councils.
