The Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese Constituency, Elizabeth Gaisie, on Saturday collapsed during her swearing-in after emerging victorious in the constituency elections.
Madam Gaisie was rushed to the Abura-Dunkwa Government Hospital but she was pronounced dead.
3news.com’s Central Region correspondent, Kwame Kakarba reported that Madam Gaisie, 57, had stood unopposed and was duly declared winner after the polls, which were rocked by injunctions in some constituencies across the nation.
But she could not live even a day to continue serving the constituency, he said.
She was survived by a husband and five children.
The husband, Andrew Mensah, was the Member of Parliament for the Constituency between 2004 and 2008.
