It is almost certain that, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Youth Organiser, Sammi Awuku, may not lead his party’s youth into the 2020 elections and the NPP is likely to miss their inspirational and charismatic youth leader in the 2020 elections.
It is not clear where he is heading, having turned down many offers made him by President Akufo-Addo.
So far, The Herald has learnt that, Henry Nana Boakye, Deputy National Service Scheme boss, Dominic Eduah, Deputy National Youth Organiser, Prince Obeng, Greater Accra Regional Youth Organiser, Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC) Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organiser and one Ishmael from Tamale an NPP activist, are the people currently campaigning across the country for his position.
Awuku, has been credited with building a formidable, but radical youth group that led the NPP campaign into the 2016 elections.
While, some party insiders, are advocating he goes for the NPP National Organiser slot, others are said to be pushing him to pick the office of NPP General Secretary to become the youngest ever scribe for the now ruling party.
But those familiar with events in the NPP, told The Herald, Sammi is keeping his cards close to his chest.
In the meantime, his laid-back attitude towards re-election, has sparked some conflict within the NPP with Abronye DC and Razak Kojo Opoku, verbally attacking each other.
Razak Kojo Opoku alias “Saul to Apostle Paul of NPP” in a letter addressed to Abronye DC, described the latter as “a small kid in Politics operating from your hometown”.
“You are a small kid in Politics operating from your hometown that is why you don’t know much about Razak Kojo Opoku”, adding “You are a coward hiding behind Amasaman Nii Adjei Ayitey to attack me. Why don’t you face me yourself to see your smoothness level”.
Razak, went on to tell Abronye DC “Listen very well, I don’t worship Political Fanatic Characters. Abronye DC, becoming a National Youth Organizer, is not about Making Noise without a substance. Your style of Politicking is too uncivilized”.
The letter in the custody of The Herald, made references to home raids, car seizures and bribe demand by Abronye DC asking him “Do you know the level of disgrace your conduct has brought to President Akufo-Addo Government within the first 100 Days?
Razak further charged “So you think slaughtering fowls, sheeps and cows to Deities in Brong-Ahafo Region can qualify you to become the National Youth Organizer of NPP? Then indeed you are Politically Ignorant, adding “just compare your Character to Sammy Awuku whether you fit enough to succeed him as the National Youth Organizer. The answer is BIG NO”.
“If you care to know my contribution to the Victory of NPP surpasses yours but I don’t make noise about it. Maybe Abronye DC think that contribution to NPP Victory is only about cows and sheep slaughtering. Hahaha”, the letter said.
Razak went on “Yes I attacked Nana Addo in the past and I am not running away from history but you know what I am just like the Apostle Paul who attacked the Christian faith but later became the Standard bearer for the spreading of Christianity to the Gentiles”.
Abronye DC, go and tell Christians that Apostle Paul is not qualify to be in the Bible because he persecuted the Christians sometimes ago.
The rest of the letter was full of insults.
“Abronye DC, you don’t have any idea how the discerning Ghanaians are pissed off by your uncivilized character creating discomfort to President Akufo-Addo Government”.
“Abronye DC. you are not fit intellectually to be the National Youth Organizer of NPP. Abronye DC, you are not fit morally to be the possible replacement to Sammy Awuku”.
“Abronye DC, drop your foolish Deities and come to me, I will help you to become Wise Politically. Lastly, next time if you want to write something about me do it yourself as a man and stop employing cheap PRO to do it for you before you post it on platforms”.
“Per your write up, the Fearless Razak Kojo Opoku can even tell Hon. Kennedy Agyapong to shut up over Delta Force Issues because it was undermining President Akufo-Addo, then Abronye DC you are just like an ANT to me that I can easily dismantle without stress”, adding “Any way I wish well in your quest to become the National Youth Organizer of NPP which is practically impossible”.
In reply, to Razak, Abronye wrote “whether intellectually fit or sub standard am still Abronye, the people’s choice in the 2014 Regional delegates conference. I will not say that the constituency Executives in BA are intellectually unfit and that is why I was elected in that Congress”.
He stated “I don’t envy you for joining NPP after our victory and I don’t care about what you are saying against other competitors in favour of your preferred candidate. I don’t care about your insults on me. Even though , I must say that , I have not in any way or whatsoever declared my intention to contest for any National position , I do hereby accepts your insults in favour of Nana B against those you think would be contesting in Good faith. The Almighty God actually knows the one to succeed Sammy Awuku”.
According to Abronye, “I am not competing for anything with you. I have nothing to lose whether or not I would be contesting for any National position. The Almighty God will also judge the two of us whether indeed am hiding behind Nii Adjei Adjitey or not and whether he is even known to me”, adding “I will continue to seek for God’s guidance physically and spiritually in my political life and not to attack colleague competitors. God’s wish is my wish”.
