Contrary to reports, Black Starlets captain Eric Ayiah has not signed for Potuguese giants FC Porto.
News making waves on Wednesday suggested the young forward had signed a hefty deal with the Dragons but representatives of the player claim they have not overseen any transfer of the sort.
Ayiah shot to international prominence after a brilliant display at the 2017 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, where he bagged four goals for Ghana.
The showing at the African tournament has, according to his agent, earned him many suitors from across Europe.
The representative of the player, Samuel Owusu Amoah, told 3news.com that Ayiah is still in Prampram training with the rest of the Starlets for the upcoming U-17 World Cup in India later this year.
“As far as I am concerned, we have not had any negotiations with FC Porto. That story is not true. The boy has not signed any contract,” he said.
“So many clubs have expressed interest in him- even from FC Porto but we him to focus on the World Cup for now bearing in mind that such moves are very important in a young player’s career. We do not want to rush into taking a decision. We want to do a complete analysis of a club that give him the best of development,” Ayiah’s rep Owusu Amoah concluded.
Ayiah will captain the Black Starlets at the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
