There seems not to be an end to the situation where some people arrogate powers to themselves in the country not giving reference and respect to the Chief of Staff and the Housing Sector Minister.
On Friday, there was drama at the State Housing Company when Mr Kwabena Appiah who is said to have been appointed by the President as the Managing Director of the State Housing Company Limited (SHC) visited the organization to introduce himself as the Managing Director without his appointment letter.
According to information received, Kwabena Appiah wasn’t able to produce his appointment letter when asked.
Some checks at the Ministry of Housing indicated that there’s no such appointment by government or the president, therefore, it should be ignored because that is not the procedure of government.
Another source at the Flagstaff House also indicated that Mr Kwabena Appiah who is said to have been appointed by the President; Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the Managing Director of the State Housing Company Limited (SHC) has no letter to that effect since all letters of that nature goes through the Press Secretary and the Information Minister as was the case in appointments made to National Service Secretariat, MASLOC, Ghana Tourist Authority, NADMO, Ghana Gas, STC, etc.
According to the source, the stories come into the public domain with appointment letters accompanying them.
Mr Kwabena Appiah who has no such letter, instead chose to go to the media thus a story on GhanaWeb on the 12th of May 2017 sourced from Ultimate FM without his letter and gave his background as prior to his appointment.
According to the story, Mr Appiah, a former Manager for the Federal National Mortgage (Fannie Mae) in the United States of America brings to the SHC, 8 years of experience from the USA housing market plus 4 years from the UK housing market.
As it stands, Mr. Kwabena Appiah cannot assume his new role as MD at the State Housing Company which is currently being occupied by Mr. Samuel Sarpong, the former Ashanti Regional Minister under the Mahama government.
