The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO), in the Brong Ahafo Region, has restored power to occupants of over 300 households at Asantekae, Asawinso and Adwumam communities in the Asunafo South District.
These communities had been living in darkness for weeks following their disconnection due to non-payment of bills and illegal connections to their homes and properties.
Confirming the re-connection to , the Corporate Communications Manager of NEDCO, Maxwell Kotoka, said the affected customers reported to the office and their cases were heard on a case by case basis, and those who satisfied the conditions had their power restored.
“It turned out that a significant number of them who came were connected on the ten key projects by the contractor, and part of the arrangements was to provide them with meters, so they had to go back to the contractor and our information is that the contractor has supplied a number of meters and is doing the installation for them,” he explained.
He said even though the households were satisfying the conditions now, through no fault of theirs, a breach of the terms and conditions of service had already been caused by the contractor, and pledged to let the law take its course.
Mr. Kotoka disclosed that his outfit has taken a decision to streamline the execution of all projects, step up education and put in measures to hold contractors accountable for distributing power release to transformers for test run of the connection mix.
