The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has slammed mode used by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to express his condolences to bereaved family members of Captain Maxwell Mahama who was horrifically murdered in line of official duties.
“My condolences to the family of Captain Maxwell Mahama on their tragic loss. I assure them that the perpetrators of this heinous crime will be arrested and dealt with according to the laws of our country”, the President said in a tweet.
“No one involved in this murder will go free” the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces declared in series of tweets.
But the Deputy Secretary General of NDC, Mr. Koku Anyidoho has attacked the use of twitter as communication mode to expressing his condolences to the late army officer.
According to the outspoken Deputy General Secretary, the President choice of modern technology (twitter) is useless and needless at this moment of grief.
“As a Commander-in-Chief of Ghana Armed Forces, an officer has been murdered and you chose to tweet your condolences to the bereaved family members, this is worrisome. Government is about serious business that is why we are asking him to resign if he cannot hold the fort anymore”
“My grandparents do not know Twitter. The President should have spoken or used state-owned media houses to carry his condolences to the people not tweeting as done”, Mr. Koku Anyidoho suggested.
