Mahama’s E-blocks -The seeming discord between the NPP and NDC has not come in the way of policy making and good governance of the leading party -an act quite worthy of emulation.
New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) implementation of the Free SHS policy will not exempt The E-Blocks commissioned by former President John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

As a matter of fact, the E-blocks are among the schools that will receive the first cohort of students to benefit from the government’s Free Senior High School program.
Chairman of the Ghana Education Service Council, Mr. Michael Kenneth Nsowah who made this revelation, said the schools were computed into the list of Senior High Schools; made available as options for Junior High School graduates to choose from, for their placement.
The Free SHS policy finally begins today September 11. The program will begin in all public senior high schools across the country.
The program, estimated at 3.6 billion Ghana cedis each year, was a major campaign promise by then candidate Nana Akufo Addo in both the 2012 and 2016 elections.

This policy promised by the government during the 2016 electioneering entails free public senior high school education for all eligible Ghanaians from the 2017/2018 academic year -September 2017.
It will ensure that there will be no admission fees, no library fees, no science center fees, no computer laboratory fees, no examination fees, no utility fees and all the other charges. There will also be free textbooks, free boarding and free meals and day students will get a meal at school for free
Mahama’s E-blocks were part of the former government’s Community Day Senior High School Project (CSHSP) which was proposed in 2012 to increase access to SHS and to decongest existing schools.
200 new schools were to be built in underserved rural communities in the country. 40 schools were all ready to admit fresh students before former president Mahama left office.
But Bearing in mind NDC’s massive criticisms of the NPP’s Free SHS program, many have wondered if Mahama’s E-blocks will be included as the former opposed the plan from the on set.
More so, in the discussions around the new government’s flagship Free SHS program, many have wondered if the blocks will be included as the NPP criticized the project.
But the NPP through its implementation of its flagship policy hopes to prove that good governance comes first before party politics
