The Kassena-Nankana Municipal Chief Executive, Williams Aduum, has called for effective collaboration between the public sector and the government.
According to him, such collaboration was critical, since the government alone could not adequately meet all the socio, economic and infrastructural needs of its citizenry.
Speaking to Radio Ghana’s Samuel Ayammah after his confirmation, the MCE added that though the national infrastructural budget had increased significantly over the years, it was nowhere near the funding requirements for the provision and maintenance of infrastructure in Education, Health, Agric, Roads and other productive sectors.
He noted that there are obvious deficiencies in infrastructural outlay, hence, now more than ever is the time to devise appropriate approaches to address the socio and economic needs of the country.
Mr. Aduum said among the many viable avenues in lessening the burden on the government is public private partnership.
He said he will work with all, irrespective of political or religious affiliation colour, creed or race, in the implementation of policies to raise living standards in the municipality.
Mr. Aduum promised to pursue a developmental agenda in line with government’s aspirations and special focus on education, health and private sector development.
He pledged to improve and repackage the varied tourism potentials of the municipality and market it to the world, while enhancing revenue generation and mobilization.
He said general infrastructure development, including roads and school structures, would be among his priorities, adding that he will accord equal opportunities to all communities.
He pledged to operate an open door policy in his administration and called on the assembly members to support him in his bid to enhance accelerated socio-economic development in the municipality.
Mr. Aduum said he will ensure the successful implementation of government’s policies and programs to reduce unemployment and poverty.
He called on the chiefs and people in the area to support his administration to curb the haphazard building of structures to make the Kassena-Nankana municipality a beautiful place to live.
