The fifth edition of the 3FM Fat2Fit challenge – a 60-day health and lifestyle challenge – ended Saturday with a call on government to institute a national fitness day to encourage Ghanaians to adopt healthy lifestyle.
Chief Executive and founder of Fat2Fit Weight Management Company, Akoto DerGross, who made the proposal said such a day, to be observed once a month, would encourage people to keep fit and maintain a healthy living.
He was speaking at the end of this year’s Fat2Fit Challenge at the Aviation Social Centre in Accra.
The fitness challenge which started on February 24, with about 100 people sought to challenge the participants to lose weight and build healthy lifestyle.
Ms. Racheal Nai who lost15.5kg of weight within 60 days emerged the Biggest Weight Losers and took home exciting prizes.
She gets six-month free membership from Aviation Social Center, one-month supply of Moringa Fruit Juice, hampers from Salon Services and Promasidor, a new Fit Bit, Blood Pressure and Cholesterol checkups.
Ms. Cynthia Appiah Adjei took the second place with a weight loss of 12.2kg while the third place went to Mrs. Angela Markwei with a weight loss of 10.2kg.
They both took home similar prizes.
Saturday’s climax event started at 6:00am with some warm ups and a few stretches after which participants were engaged in aerobic session led by Beatrice Afful, a.k.a Bea De Bully.
At the end of the event, participants were served with refreshments from Moringa Fruit Juice and Promasidor Ghana Limited while Salon Services also treated them to soothing massages.
Mr. DerGross commended the participants for their show of passion and firmness and throughout their weight loss journey.
Special Guest at the event, Deputy Minister of Health Tina Mensah government was prepared to work with organizations such as Fat2Fit to reduce obesity trends in Ghana
She said it was a delight for her to witness such an excellent programme.
She thus encouraged all participants not to end the journey with the competition but make fitness a lifestyle everyday.
Mrs. Millicent Addai Mensah, Head of Station at 3FM 92.7, expressed joy at how determined participants of this season had been.
She encouraged participant to keep listening to 3FM for more interesting programmes and watch out for Season 6 Fat2Fit.
The organisers expressed gratitude to all the sponsors who made the challenge a success.
