The first 100 days of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, the only man I know with two “Addo’s” in his name has been okay except it was nearly marred by insurrection from ignoble thugs who feel and think their rabble rousing behavior forced us to vote for the NPP.
In fact, some of us supported the candidature of the then Presidential candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo inspite of the believable propaganda his detractors tagged him with not because any delta force or human beings who have decided to call themselves bulldogs came to our homes to tell us to do so.
We went out and voted for him because we believed he had the panacea to most, if not all of the numerous problems the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration had plunged us into as a nation.
He has implemented and is continuously implementing most of the promises that were flagship of his 2016 campaign. The FREE SHS that was promised by him has come. Even though I think it shouldn’t have entirely been free since most of the parents pay more in fees for their wards at JHS than even SHS, it has come.
The ‘One district One factory’ that was ridiculed by his political opponents, the NDC especially as a mere clap trap meant to hoodwink voters has been rolled out. In my local parlance there’s a saying as; ‘the beginning of a testicle will determine whether it will develop hernia or not.’ From the blue prints laid out and the gusto with which the able trade minister is going about the policy, it appears like a successful one already. That too has come.
From the budding of this present government I can fully repose my confidence in them and hope and pray they succeed. However, the needless and unprovoked attacks and brutalities against policemen like Nanka Bruce under the ‘nose’ of the presidency, the jungle-like raid of courts by cowards impelled on by dishonorable party bigwigs and the kangaroo seizure of cars left, right and Centre should be discontinued. Mere talks by the President won’t stop the issue!
The delta force which is really no force at all must be forced to fall, the bulldogs must be muzzled and tamed and if possible be denied large rations of food so that they can slim down to become like the local breeds and lastly, Abronye DC and acerbic tongued deputy secretary general should know that power is transient. They could be in opposition in the not too distant future.
We pray for the best for Ghana. We pray for the best from our elected members of parliament. If they ever forget their mandate and only buy V8’s and V20’s with common fund money they should also remember that the Ghanaian voter has become more discerning. They will fall on Election Day in some 3 years to come just as some of their colleagues fell, only that theirs will be a more glorious downfall!!
Eyes are watching. God is watching. Nana Toaso!
