The drums of the celebration of the Eid Mubarak has continued to sound among Muslims across the country. Eid-al-Fitr is the last day of the holy month of Ramadan, marking an end to a month-long observance of fast from dawn to dusk. In Islam, there are two Eids – Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
This year’s Eid el Fitr in Ghana started on June 24th and ended on June 25th. It has been all about the celebration in Ghana. Politicians have not been left out it, as many political stakeholders both Muslims and Christians have taken to various platforms to celebrate the event.
President Nana Akufo-Addo took to social media to wish Muslims across the country, Eid Mubarak.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia took out time to deliver a message to his Muslim brothers on the day of the celebration. Bawumia in his Sallah message called on all Muslims to use the Eid al-Fitr occasion to pray for “peace, unity and prosperity” in Ghana.
He urged Muslims to hold on to the virtues cultivated in the holy month of worship and sacrifice; virtues of love, patience, empathy, sacrifice and building bridges with people of all faith, race, and nationality.
Let us also pray for our beloved country Ghana; let us pray for peace, unity and prosperity. Let us rededicate ourselves to the service of the Almighty, to the service of humanity and to the service of our nation, Ghana. May the Almighty Allah be our guide and guard in everything we do.
Wife of the Vice President Samira Bawumia chose a unique way to celebrate the Eid el Fitr. In the spirit of celebration, Hajia Samira Bawumia donated dozens of bags of rice and other food items to Muslims inmates at the Nsawam medium security prison. Samira’s donation to show love to people and the less privilege as they celebrate Eid ul Fitr.
Former President Jerry John Rawlings and his wife Nana Konadu Rawlings also congratulated the Muslim community on the occasion of the feast of breaking of the fast. The couple issued a statement on Sunday, June 25th to celebrate with the Muslims and commend them for committing to a month-long fast in supplication to Allah.
