Ghana’s largest telecommunications service provider, MTN, has launched Season Six of its talent hunt reality show dubbed: “Hitmaker,” with an assurance to roll out a number of programmes to promote talented Ghanaian musicians.
For this dream of the MTN to be achieved successfully, the company charged existing and upcoming Ghanaian musicians to create exciting and innovative musical products which will meet international acceptable standards.
According to the Chief Marketing Officer (CEO) of MTN Ghana, Mr. Asher Khan, the company has recognised the importance of Ghanaian songs.
This, he noted, has informed the decision of management of MTN Ghana to institute a number of musical programmes to groom and nurture existing and upcoming Ghanaian musicians. Speaking at the media launch of the Season Six of the MTN Hitmaker in Accra over weekend, Mr. Khan stated that the show strives to discover and nurture great creative potential in the country, adding that it was opened to Ghanaians who believe they are bound to become Hitmakers.
He asserted that since the launch of the Hitmaker show, each of the new hitmaker seasons brings its own excitement as “we anticipate fresh music talents to be unearthed and promised the company’s commitment to continue to create musical opportunity for up-and-coming young musicians in the country.
He said the first season of the MTN Hitmaker reality show saw Naterial win the coveted prize which propelled him to stardom and ever since, many aspiring musicians have greatly been inspired to partake in the season two, three, four and five of the MTN Hitmaker.
According to the chief marketing officer of MTN Ghana, the season two winner, Koo Ntakra, is making waves in the music industry and has released some hit tunes as well as collaborated with some of Ghana’s top musicians. He stated that Togbe, the winner of the season 3, has proved his creativity and why he emerged winner of the season three. His debut track, which featured hiplife heavyweight, Kwaw Kesse, released a few months ago, was steadily climbing the charts.
He mentioned that Kidi, the winner of the season four MTN Hitmaker, who is the brand new afro pop singer, has also demonstrated his musical prowess to the world that he deserved to win the season four of the show. According to Mr. Khan, the young Ghanaian musician released a banger titled: “Awurama.”
“Kidi is also showing his acting skills in our MTN Pulse campaign,” he disclosed. Additionally, Mr. Khan noted that Kelvin who was the winner of fifth edition of the show has recorded one song, saying that the young talented musician has worked on another exciting song which will soon be unveiled to the public. “Our vision to lead the delivery of a bold new digital world will also be reflected in this edition of the hitmaker. We will make use of our powerful digital platforms like MTN play and video+ to search for the talent and showcase them.
