The President’s nominee for Mion District of the Northern Region, Mohammed Abdallah Hashmin has been confirmed and sworn into office as District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area.
He received a 100% endorsement from the members of the Assembly. The DCE polled 29 out of the total 29 votes cast.
The election which was supervised by officials from the Northern Regional Electoral Commission, saw all the 20 elected Assembly members and 9 government appointees voting in favour of the DCE.
The Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed who swore in the DCE on behalf of the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hajia Alima Mahama congratulated the assembly members for the honour done the DCE, the people and the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He was confident that the overwhelming endorsement of the DCE would pave the way for the immediate implementation of government’s policies and programmes in the area.
The Regional Minister called for unity among the officials of the assembly and encouraged the DCE to take decisions that would inure to the benefit of the people.
The New DCE, Mohammed Abdallah Hashmin was over excited for the high level of confidence reposed in him by the President and the assembly members.
He promised to deliver on his mandate and also assured to operate an open door policy to ensure the full support and participation of the people. Mr Abdallah Hashmin who is a development worker promised to prioritize education, health, agriculture and economic empowerment of women and youth of the area.
