Meet Margaret Dery, Ghana’s New Beauty Queen

Miss Ghana 2017 winner -This year’s edition of Miss Ghana pageant ended with a big smile on the face of Margaret Dery, the new beauty Queen. Margaret Mwintuur Dery was on Saturday, October 7 crowned the ultimate winner after a keen contest.

The 2017 edition dubbed ‘Miss Ghana 60 Years On’, held as per scheduled at the State House’s Banquet Hall in the capital, Accra.

The event saw some of the prettiest faces in Ghana battle for the much-envied crown while the awed audience cheered and waited for the final result.

The results finally came out and none other than the multi-talented representative of the Upper West Region, Margaret Mwintuur Dery was called upon to receive the crown.

Everyone knows she is beautiful, smart and intelligent, but we bet many do not really know much about the newly crowned Miss Ghana. Scroll down as we give you more details about Ghana’s new beauty queen.

Miss Ghana 2017 winner Margaret Dery is the daughter of Ambrose Dery, Ghana’s Minister of Interior and MP for Nandom in the Upper West Region.

Her Father who was appointed in April 2017 by President Nana Akufo-Addo is responsible for internal security and law and order in Ghana.

2. Miss Ghana 2017 Winner Schools At The University of Development Studies

Miss Dery is a Social Science Education student at the University of Development Studies in Wa in the Upper West Region. Her current level at the school is however not known at the moment.

3. Also Won Miss Talent and Beauty with a Purpose Prize

The University of Development Studies student was also named Miss Talent, Beauty With Purpose. Among other goodies, she won for herself a car, as well as a slot to represent Ghana at Miss World 2018.

Miss Dery now takes over from Afua Asieduwaa Akrofi, the Miss Ghana Ambassador as the Golden Jubilee queen Miss Margaret beat two other competitors from the Ashanti and Eastern Regions to land the top beauty queen position.

The first runner-up was Priscilla Gameli from the Eastern Region while Marigold Frimpong from the Ashanti Region was the second runner-up. Based on their intelligence, beauty and other qualities, the 20 beautiful ladies were selected from the 10 regions of the country.

After walking the runway in their evening dresses and answering some really tough questions posed by the four judges, five ladies made the final round of which three were crowned winner and 1st and 2nd runner-ups.

Going by the theme Dubbed ‘Miss Ghana 60 Years On’, this year’s event was also marked by a charity gala and awards night, where major stakeholders and supporters of the brand in the 60 years history of the pageant were honored.
