Announcing the initiative at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, after making a donation to a patient at the Reconstructive Surgery Unit of the Hospital, Richard Ahiagble, Group Head of Corporate Affairs, Media General, reiterated the company’s commitment to play a significant role in the health and wellness of Ghanaians.
“I am happy to announce our 12 Days of Giving initiative, it is our commitment to touch and enrich lives throughout the festive period by giving back to vulnerable individuals and groups across the country.”
The Head of Corporate Affairs said as Ghana’s leading media organization, Media General continues to support hundreds of Ghanaians through its CSR and Social Support Fund.
He added that the group’s platforms have become a catalyst for community development — galvanizing support for community and individual causes in health, education and community empowerment.
Madam Mary Ahiawude, an epileptic patient who unfortunately fell into a boiling pot of soup recently whilst experiencing seizure was the first to benefit from the 12 Days of Giving by Media General.
Mary’s situation is dire because she is also pregnant, and the support is only the first step in ensuring she and her unborn child receives the necessary medical care.
Receiving the cash donation on behalf of the Hospital, Acting Head of the Unit Dr. Kwame Darko expressed gratitude to the Media General Group.
“It is a delight to see that Media General is responding to our appeal, not only by donating to support Mary, but deciding to put her story out there on TV3 for Ghanaians to support her.”
Media General would be using its channels to raise additional funds to ensure that the mother and the child are well catered for.
The 12 Days of giving initiative will support among others, health care delivery for some of the most vulnerable people in communities over the festive period.
