The Media Coalition against Illegal Mining and allied stakeholders have slated another public forum for Thursday, May 4 to advance the cause to get galamsey banned across the country and its destructive effects reversed.
According to the coalition, the media encounter will hold at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences auditorium, Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), behind the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra, from 9:30am.
Notices posted by the coalition lists the Director-General of CISR as a co-chair of the forum to discuss a myriad of challenges and solutions, including the impact of illegal mining on water resources, the institutional challenges propping illegal mining, corrective measures towards sustainable mining as well as policy and legal reforms to make illegal mining unattractive.
There will also be open discussions on the corrective measures and the contribution of the coalition towards eliminating illegal mining.

Prosecution
Royalties and other benefits to communities
Organisers want participants seated by 9:15am.
