Residents of Kotobabi on the Spintex road of the Greater Accra Region have expressed worry at the rate at which some local mechanics have converted sections of the road into auto workshops.
According to them, the actions by these mechanics negatively affect the movement of vehicles and pedestrians thereby causing unnecessary traffic congestion on the road.
Samuel Ofori, a resident in an interview with Today said, “It is really bad, they leave the broken down vehicles at the urges of the road. These vehicles have been packed here for more than two years and no action has been made to move them from the road side”.
“During rush hours, the roads get choked because two of the lanes have been converted into a one lane street. Pedestrians and motorists cannot get through because the road is blocked”, another resident, Nana Ama Annan said.
All efforts to reach the owner of the auto workshop proved futile as he was not available for comments. However, one of the residents, James Oppong said “it is not the fault of the mechanics, after repair works are complete they expect that the vehicle owners come to collect them, but many of them refuse to show up so, they are left to rust
