Our Lady of Apostles (OLA) Catholic Church in Cape Coast has held a special thanksgiving service in honour of new Mayor Ernest Arthur.
The new Mayor of Cape Coast was confirmed last Tuesday, May 2.
In a sermon titled ‘Christ Our Shepherd and Guardian’, Very Reverend Father Essilfie called on government officials, parents and church members to be good shepherds and work with all their might and strength in all that they do.
“Christ as a Good Shepherd is mindful of our wellbeing. We, therefore, have an obligation to our city and nation as citizens,” Rev Father Essilfie reiterated.
On his part, Ernest Arthur lauded the OLA Catholic Church for their unity, sense of purpose and responsibility as a religious organisation.
He further urged members of the church to continue to live in unity and harmony and also thanked the church for their prayers and support he has received since joining the church.
“I appreciate everything you have done for me. I joined this church not too long ago but the support given me has been phenomenal,” he stated.
Cape Coast MCE Arthur asked the church for continual prayers, pointing out that the task ahead of him demands their support and prayers.
He is expected to officially start work as MCE of Cape Coast on Monday, May 8.
