Police have arrested the person who stole late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama’s mobile phone after he was killed at Denkyira Obuasi in the Central Region on May 29, 2017. Police investigators traced the mobile phone – an iphone7, to the room of Kwodjo Fordjour, a driver at Denkyira Obuasi.

Mr. Kwodjo is now in police custody after he was remanded in court. According to the prosecutor, they retrieved the phone from Fordjour’s room at Denkyira Obuasi when they picked intelligence that the suspect was in possession of the mobile phone.
The case was adjourned to August 3, 2017, after the police pleaded for more time to do further investigations to consolidate Fordjour’s case with the 19 suspects remanded earlier in connection with the lynching and murder of the army officer.
The Ghana Police Service got hold of several suspects linked to the gruesome murder of the late Major. Asides from the man who stole Major Mahama’s iPhone, up to 32 suspects were remanded into police custody for their alleged roles in the murder.
The police also arrested a woman who allegedly raised the alarm leading to the death of the late Major. The case is still ongoing as police continue to dig deep to find the killers of the late major.
Major Majama, the late military officer who was a member of the 5th Infantry Batallion was lynched and burnt by some residents of Diaso in Upper Denkyira Obuasi, Central Region after he was mistaken to be an armed robber. The late major was on his daily jogging routine on a fateful day, May 29, when a gun was spotted on him by some residents, as he stopped by to inquire for directions.
However, the scared residents raised an alarm after which the angry youth of the town descended heavily on him; lynching and burning him to death. Late major Mahama was laid to rest on June 9, 2017.
