A Cape Coast District Court on Monday, 19 June 2017 discharged seven suspects standing trial for their alleged involvement in the murder of Major Maxwell Mahama.
The Police prosecutors in Cape Coast prayed the court to discharge the seven suspects so they would be transferred to Accra since the Police Central Intelligence Department (CID) Headquarters has taken over the case.
The seven, including assemblyman William Baah, who allegedly mobilized the townsfolk of Denkyira-Boase to lynch Major Mahama, are being tried with several others for the crime.
They were arraigned on a provisional charge of murder on 1 June at the Cape Coast District Court which remanded them into police custody to allow for further investigations.
The court, after listening to the prosecutor’s explanation on Monday, discharged the seven suspects. The prosecution will continue in Accra.
