The former Ashanti regional First Vice Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Alhaji Mohammed Sani has bemoaned the lack of courage by the former President John Dramani Mahama to shut former President Jerry John Rawlings up.
He wondered why Mr. Mahama has not been able to ‘zip’ Mr Rawlings’ mouth from spewing venom about him over the years.
Mr. Rawlings during the electioneering spoke against the Mahama-led government describing his appointees as corrupt (babies with sharp teeth) but described then flagbearer of New Patriotic Party (NPP), (now President) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as incorruptible.
Speaking with Kwame Adinkra on Abusua FM’s Abusua Nkommo, he said Mr Mahama has been too soft allowing the former military leader speak ill about him of subtly describing him as ‘corrupt’.
“I blame ex-Pesident John Dramani Mahama for been too quite, his silence is long overdue, he should shut Rawlings up for speaking ill about him and his government. I don’t understand why ex- President Mahama has been so quite. Everybody knows that Rawlings has been telling lies, but NDC members are all quite, why the silence?, I don’t get it. The truth must be told to Rawlings in the face,” he fumed.
Alhaji Sani advised Mr Mahama to desist from putting a blind eye to ‘reckless’ talks by the former President Rawlings urging him to respond to his utterances in equal measure.
He charged Mr Rawlings to mention names of NDC members and Mr Mahama’s appointees who are corrupt accusing Mr Rawlings of throwing dust in the eyes of the public of having vital information about people.
“Can Rawlings say he has much information than the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo?. People should ignore him, he has no information,” he said.
The NDC former regional first vice chairman called on members of NDC to ignore Mr Rawlings and focus on unseating NPP in the upcoming 2020 elections.
Alhaji Sani indicated that he is not afraid of the former military leader saying his wife will reject him if he panics when discussing issues concerning Mr Rawlings.
