The Local Black Stars now referred to as Black Stars B have beaten the senior side of The Gambia 2-1 in a friendly match played Wednesday morning at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Scorpions are scheduled to play Benin’s Squirrels this weekend in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier and so, took the game as a preparatory encounter.
The Black Stars B are also gearing up for a 2018 CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso in August.
Substitute Thomas Abbey opened the scoring in the 51st minute with barely his first touch after coming on for Richmond Lamptey.
But Lamin Jallow equalized for the Gambians in the 74th minute.
A penalty for Ghana minutes later was converted by Razak Abalora to restore the lead for the Black Stars.
The match was officiated by referee Reginald Lathbridge with David Laryea and Nii Kotey Kotei assisting him on the flanks.
The game was played in a virtually empty Accra Sports Stadium.
