KP Boateng is not bothered about his long absence from Ghana’s national team.
Suspended Black Stars player, Kevin-Prince Boateng is practically undisturbed about his inability to play for the Ghana national team for over two years now. The 30-year-old was dismissed from the Black Stars alongside Sulley Muntari after an incident during the 2014 World Cup campaign.
KP Boateng was banished after he verbally abused coach Kwesi Appiah, during Ghana’s wrecked 2014 World Cup campaign in Brazil. Muntari in the same vein was thrown out over an attack on Black Stars management committee member Moses Armah, over issues of unpaid bonuses.
The two had been summoned before the 2014 World Cup Commission but they snubbed the summons as well as refused to apologize. This unreasonable act by the duo had earned them the distaste of football authorities and Ghanaians at large.
However, following the installation of a new Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah hinted at a possible recall of the suspended players in his second stint as the team manager. Kwesi Appiah suggested the players would be considered for selection provided their performances merit a call-up.
However, Boateng says he has no desire of returning to the team claiming he loses nothing over the snub. The Las Palmas midfielder who is yet to apologize to the Ghana Football Association and the state says he has not missed anything for his absence from the Black Stars since 2014.
Although KP Boateng has earlier declared an interest to play for the Black Stars at the upcoming FIFA World Cup, the 30-year-old sure has a lot going for him and has the national team as the least of his priorities. Interacting with the media, the Las Palmas player said he only misses his fellow players at the team but not playing for the team.
Muntari, on the other hand, has long apologized to the GFA and is hoping to return to the national team. The Pescara midfielder tendered an unqualified apology to authorities after two years of defiance. However, his pleas are yet to receive consideration.
