Some polling station executives of the New Patriotic Party in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region have ordered the National Health Insurance Authority Manager Mohammed Kamal Hassan to resign immediately or face their wrath.
The party members accused him of actively participating in the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) campaign for re-election in 2016.
They argue that his actions flout the code of conduct of public officers as enshrined in the constitution.
But the NPP executives in Kwabre East have condemned the act, saying the polling station executives erred by not using the right channel to express their concerns.
The constituency secretary, Opoku Agyemang Bonsu speaking to Citi News about the issue said the procedure used by the polling station executives during the petition process was wrong.
He explained that the petition should have first come through them so as to investigate and ascertain the truth of the matter.
“It was a wrong procedure they followed because they should have petitioned us, we the executive body. And we would have gone through the petition and after that we would have known what to do and really write on behalf of them to the appropriate quarters.”
“We are not like the NDC who were chasing people from their offices with cutlass among others, the NPP is a respected party led by a respected lawyer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. So we must do things as how they must be done. Even they didn’t have their telephone numbers on the petition for anybody to call and get more information. So the whole procedure was wrong,” he added.
