Kumasi Asante kotoko won their first match in the Ghana premier league second round against Tema Youth at Tema to end their eight match winless streak.
Baba Mahama’s strike helped the Porcupine Warriors to record a 1-0 win against a spirited Tema Youth side. Kotoko new coach Steve Pollack will motivate himself with this win as he seeks to turn the fortunes of Asante kotoko.
Elsewhere at Tarkwa T/A park, Medeama continued their fine form as they walloped debutants Bolga All-stars by 5-1. Bernard Ofori’s hat trick, with goals from Latif Salifu and Mershak Odoom while Mohammed Naeem got Bolga All Stars’ consolation goal.
At the El Wak Stadium in Accra, Inter Allies halted WAFA with a 1:0 win. Martin Antwi’s only goal for Inter Allies won the match for his side on the day.
Sam Adams opened the scoring for Aduana in the first half and Nathaniel Asamoah scored a second half brace to seal the win for the Dormaa boys. Aduana Stars now lies comfortably at the peak of the Ghana Premier league table as WAFA slipped to second place.
At the Accra sports stadium, Liberty Professionals sensational performance on the day gave them a point against an in-form Accra Hearts of Oak. Benjamin Eshun opened the scoring for Liberty in the 34th minute but Vincent Atinga equalised for the Phobians with a penalty before half time.
Ashantigold also held Wa All Stars 1:1 in Wa to continue their battle against relegation. Ashantigold stunned the Wa side with a 9th minute opening goal through Shafiu Mumuni, but All Stars equalised just after that lead through David Abgana.
Tom Strand continued his magic for Great Olympics with a 1:0 victory over Berekum Chelsea. The only goal of the match was scored by Coffie Bekoe.
In a regional derby involving Ebusua Dwarfs and Elmina Sharks, Ebusua Dwarfs won 3:1 to avenge their first round defeat. Isaac Kwabina, Osman Mohammed and Nicholas Gyan scored for Dwarfs, while Benjamin Boateng got Sharks’ a lone goal.
