Asante Kotoko moved to third on the Ghana Premier League after a 3-1 home win over Medeama SC on Sunday.
A 0-1 loss of arch-rivals Hearts of Oak at Bechem United saw them lose the third spot to the Porcupine Warriors.
Evans Quao, Ahmed Adams and Saddick Adams scored the goals for Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium while Bismark Oppong clinched the consolation for the Tarkwa-based Medeama.
Kotoko, who have changed managers three times this season, are now five points adrift of leaders WAFA, whose encounter against Ashanti Gold has been rescheduled for Monday.
