Aisha Huang is a Chinese lady in the grips of the police for her involvement in illegal mining
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has vehemently debunked media reports suggesting that the KMA has links with Aisha Huang, the arrested Chinese lady who is noted for illegal mining (galamsey) activities in the country.
The assembly also described as a hoax, reports that the Chinese national has contacts with the newly appointed Kumasi mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi, saying that the reports should be ignored by the public “since they are not true”.
“Hon. Osei Assibey fully supports President Akufo-Addo’s fight against galamsey in the country. He therefore has no links with Aisha Huang as reported by the media,” Godwin Okumah Nyame, the KMA PRO, stated.
Recent reports in a section of the media suggested that Aisha Huang has links with the KMA as she even reportedly attended the swearing-in ceremony of Mr Osei Assibey at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) in Kumasi recently.
Mistaken Identity
Mr Okuma Nyame stated that the said Chinese lady who graced the event, is called Qi Ying, the Chief Executive Officer of Africa-China Investment Group, who educates Africans and Chinese about investment opportunities in both countries.
He stated that Qi Ying attended the swearing-in ceremony in the company of Dr. Nana Kyei Baffuor, the principal consultant to the Africa-China Investment Group.
Mr Nyame noted that “unfortunately, some media outlets mistook Qi Ying to be Aisha Huang” so they took her pictures and circulated them in the social and traditional media, adding that “they goofed badly and it is unfortunate.”
He said Qi Ying arrived in Ghana on March 26, 2017 and returned to China on April 20, 2017, adding that media houses that published Qi Ying’s picture and referred to her as Aisha Huang, got it wrong.
The PRO stated that Mr Osei Assibey is a law-abiding citizen, who would never deal with nation wreckers, therefore people who concocted the negative reports to tarnish his hard won image should revise their notes.
