KKD’s son -Darkwah Kyei-Darkwah son of popular Ghanaian broadcaster Kwasi Kyei Darkwah (KKD) is gay. The model and entertainer recently opened up about his sexuality in a digital magazine, intomore.com.
The model who was featured exclusively in the magazine is said to have admitted that he had a difficult time before coming out about his sexuality.
According to sources who got reports from the interview, Mr Darkwah used to hide his sexuality from his family since he was living under the roof of his parents. He also used to be discreet about his sexuality considering the still existent stigma that follows it.
According to KKD’s son, he found out he was gay in his primary school and had to hide it from his parents. He started to get used to it when he was called out as gay by his peers.
Darkwah Kyei-Darkwah said he used to be very quiet, obedient and often stay in his room so as he would not be noticed.
I realized I was gay in primary school, someone called me gay as an insult and I responded “so what? I was totally fine with it, but others weren’t and that was when the comfort with my sexuality started

He also revealed that he went through a lot of ups and downs, trying out new ways of dressing, reinventing himself and trying out new friendship groups.
However, he has outgrown the fears and subjections; Darkwah has now come of age and doesn’t feel the need to conform to anybody’s standard in terms of sexuality.
KKD’s son was featured on the website alongside other gay models of African descent on issues they face as queer people of colour.
