The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation Joseph Kofi Adda has dismissed claims that he has been ineffective since he was appointed a year ago by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
A section of Ghanaians have labelled Mr. Adda a failure. According to critics, he has failed to rid the city and other parts of the country of filth.
Some have called for the President to scrap the ministry and allow the local government ministry deal with the filth that has engulfed the country.
But speaking on Morning Starr Wednesday, Mr. Adda stated that he has been very effective in the last one year adding that he is putting in place measures to make Ghana a clean country.
“I have been effective as a Minister of Sanitation,” Mr. Adda told Francis Abban host of Morning Starr.
According to him, people must not expect overnight solutions to the problems of sanitation in the country.
He however, assured that Accra will be the cleanest city by the middle of this year.
“The overnight solution people are expecting to get from the Sanitation Ministry will not happen just like that. It will take some time,” Hon. Adda said adding that some of the issues concerning sanitation in the country is being handled by the Local Government Ministry.
