Captain of Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals, Samuel Sarfo, has described as a privilege to train with Ghana’s Black Stars for the first time at Wednesday.
The Black stars of Ghana is currently on a non-residential training ahead of their 2019 Nations Cup qualifier against Ethiopia.
The defender has been impressive in Ghana’s Premier League and has scored six goals. He was nominated for the player of the month of May sponsored by NASCO.
Samuel Sarfo told journalist that he was optimistic other local players will have such an opportunity to train with the national team and tap from the experiences of the players most of who are ply their trade outside the country.
“It’s a privilege for someone like me or a local player to train with such stars. Well I think it’s a morale booster for us and also to enhance our performance” Sarfo said.
“It looks good to be among the stars of our time; that is the stars we have in Ghana. They are playing abroad and they have been here for quite a long time” he added.
“At least the little they bring on board, we have to tap in so that we also do the best we can. If we are to put in some effort we will see majority of the local players also here. We thank our stars, at least being here is a plus for us,” he concluded.
The training session was the first since Coach Kwesi Appiah returned to the team as the head coach of the Black Stars
It was also the first official session with the new backroom staff which includes Ibrahim Tanko as the assistant coach, goal keeper’s trainer Richard Kingson and Team Coordinator Stephen Appiah.
