The Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Marfo, says Internal Auditors are partly to blame for the woes of Africa.
He said their compromises in the discharge of their duties have led to huge financial loss to many African countries.
He has therefore charged Internal Auditors to be courageous, forthright and prudent in their professional dealings to enhance fiscal discipline.
The Senior Minister said this at the closing of the fourth African Internal Auditors International Conference in Accra.
More than 500 Internal Auditors and Corporate Heads from 22 countries participated in the 4th African Internal Auditors International Conference.
The three-day conference which was preceded by CEOs roundtable and leadership Academy sessions discussed topical issues relating to the new paradigm of Internal Auditing.
In his closing remarks, the Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Marfo urged Internal Auditors to avoid activities that will compromise their professional standards.
The Global Chairperson of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Angela Witzany challenged her colleagues to continue to build their capacities to remain relevant in society.
She appealed to government to support Internal Auditors in the country.
After an annual General Meeting, Eric Yankah of Ghana was elected to Chair the new Governing Council of the African Federation of Institutes of Internal Auditors for the next two years.
Next year`s conference will be hosted by Morocco.
