The feud between NPP’s northern regional Chairman, Bugri Naabu and the Minister for Gender and Social Protection, Otiko Afisa Djaba appears far from ending as the two seem to be incessantly launching scathing attacks on each other following the latter’s visit to the region on Friday May 5.
The latest from the camp of Bugri Naabu is a threat to file a suit against the Gender Minister for having tarnished his reputation by making some serious allegations without any proof to back them.
According to him, the Otiko Djaba decided to insult him after a mere attempt on his side intervene in the situation and to correct and bring to her attention the wrong she had done by “disregarding the structures and laid down regulations of the party” when she held a meeting on Friday with some women in the region without prior notice to the regional executives of the party.
“I am coming to find out from her, the person who gave me money or I asked for money from, the person who gave me cow or I asked for cow from, the person who gave me a sheep or a goat, if I asked for it, I’m coming to ask her, I need evidence, if no evidence, I’m putting her before court”, he stated.
The Gender Minister earlier accused Bugri Naabu of collecting some monies, goats, cows and other things from people in exchange for jobs with the School Feeding program and warned him to desist from starting trouble by accusing her of things she knows nothing about.
“I want him to stop telling lies about me and to stop collecting people’s things and promising them jobs he cannot give. When he goes and does that, after he has collected their money and their cows and goats, then he will come and put the trouble on Otiko. Otiko will not accept it. If Bugri wants trouble from me then the trouble will come.”
The two, Bugri Naabu and Otiko Djaba clashed after Otiko’s meeting with some women in the Northern Region was disrupted by the party’s regional chairman, Bugri Naabu.
Bugri Naabu accused the Gender Minister of wanting to disrupt the right processes as far as appointments for the school feeding program is concerned.
Ms. Djaba however denied having anything to do with the allegations, according to her, her meeting was in line with an assignment given to her by the First Lady Laudina Mahama to meet with the women of the region to address some health concerns after seeing to government matters in the Upper East Region.
