The Paramount Chief for the Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, has charged the new Metropolitan Chief Executive of Cape Coast, Ernest Arthur, to be focused if he is to succeed in his new role.
The task ahead, according to Osabarima, is a difficult one as the people of the town are difficult to please.
He therefore urged the new MCE to exercise strong will in pursuing his vision for Cape Coast irrespective of the criticism that will be heaped on him.
Speaking Tuesday morning at the Emintsimadze Palace, where the MCE paid a courtesy call on the Council, Osabarima urged Mr Arthur not to overlook the role of the Council in terms of decision.
“If you want to work with us, we will also work with you but if you ignore us in decision making, we will also ignore you,” Osabarima minced no words.
The Emintsimadze, he added, is ready to support him in his developmental quest for the metropolis if given a right role to play.
The traditional authority, he continued, has been disrespected over the years in terms of decisions concerning the metropolis and that negative trend should not be allowed to continue.
The MCE, on his part, pledged his commitment to liaise with all stakeholders including the Traditional Council to bring about the needed development that the people look forward to .
The MCE explained that, sanitation, education and job creation will be key on his agenda in bringing about a holistic development to Cape Coast.
Accompanying the MCE were the Metropolitan Coordinating Director, Cecilia Acquah (Chairperson, Cape Coast North NPP), Francis Abaidoo (2nd Vice Chairman, Cape Coast North NPP), Kofi Dadzie (Organiser, Cape Coast South NPP), some staff of the Assembly, Assembly members and some sympathisers of the NPP.
