President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says he is undaunted by public pronouncements of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
The maverick politician has been critical of his party’s government since it assumed the reigns. He recently took a swipe at the president for virtually leaving out Central Region in his appointments.
Answering a question at an interaction with some journalists at the Flagstaff House on Tuesday, President Akufo-Addo said he has not had any problems with Mr Agyapong’s comments since he knows the kind of person he is.
“It doesn’t give me any great cause for anxiety,” he stressed.
The president said opinions vary and so “we can all have our views”.
But he stressed that Mr Agyapong’s allegations that he has sidelined the Region in his appointments is not true.
“I don’t believe it is true,” he told the journalists gathered.
He said the NPP has been a political party which is not new to internal wrangling but its structures are strong enough to handle the issues.
President Akufo-Addo said he is focused on what he wants to achieve for the country and as good friends with Mr Agyapong, “I haven’t had a problem with his speech”.
